Allocate your wedding budget before booking suppliers

A wedding budget helps you make choices as your wish list grows. It works best when confirmed amounts, your own estimates and unanswered questions are kept separate. Start with your own overview and use quotations to fill it in further. You can then discuss a proposal for your wedding celebration at Prins Van Oranje with clear priorities.

Set your priorities before filling in amounts

Decide together which parts matter most for your celebration. These might be food, time with guests, music or space for family. Write down what you mean by each priority. “A lovely meal” can mean different things to two people: a leisurely dinner, a buffet or a more informal occasion.

Then agree who will maintain the budget overview and who may approve bookings with suppliers. If family members are contributing, discuss what they have committed to and how much freedom you have over the choices. Treat a possible contribution as certain only when those involved have made their agreement clear.

Use the same columns for every element

Create a row for each element with your preferred arrangements, expected quantity, status of the amount and relevant quotation. Useful headings include space, catering, drinks, decorations, suppliers and any hotel rooms. Add only items that belong to your own programme.

Useful statuses include “still to check”, “our own estimate” and “confirmed in writing”. This keeps it clear which parts of the overview are reliably agreed. A price example on a website does not confirm that your date, layout or complete wedding celebration can be booked for that amount.

Read a quotation for exactly what it includes

Compare proposals on the same basis. Check which hours, numbers and selected services are included and whether amounts include VAT. Have any unclear items explained before adding them to the total. A supplier you arrange yourself may also need different arrangements from an element organised through the venue.

Prins Van Oranje’s celebration information distinguishes between standard venue packages and a tailored wedding celebration. Use the separate enquiry process for your wedding and have the suitable layout and arrangements confirmed. Do not take a fixed hire price for a standard layout as the full price of a different wedding programme.

Keep changes visible until the final agreement

When something changes, note which element, number or time is changing. Ask the relevant supplier to confirm the effect on the proposal. Then replace the old version in your overview so that a previous amount is not counted alongside the new one.

Before agreeing, also read the payment schedule and applicable conditions for changes and cancellation. Hotel rooms and external suppliers may have separate arrangements. Your own budget sheet helps bring these elements together; the quotations and conditions actually confirmed determine what you have agreed.

Your practical checklist

  • Your main priorities are listed in a clear order.
  • Your own estimates and confirmed quotations have different statuses.
  • Hours, numbers, elements and the VAT basis have been checked.
  • Changes and payment dates can be found in the overview.

Put your plans into action

Request a proposal for your wedding celebration

Availability, the full price and arrangements are confirmed before you agree. A request does not reserve a hotel room or function room.
